Directors Note:
After the first lockdown and “the freeze” we asked the students what they missed most about being at the studio; was it barre, having a mirror, being able to jump across the floor without kicking a family pet? Everyones’ answer was “I missed dancing with my friends!” This was the instant inspiration for our show this evening. COSB “Dances with Friends” will showcase “Friends Dance” choreography from Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and La Bayadere. Every ballet Prince and Princess always has a group of friends that do a “Friends Dance” and you’ll be seeing some of them tonight. In addition, younger students in the school will be performing some of the traditional dances from the school’s history. These dances have become fond memories for our advanced students and claim them as the source of some of their happiest memories of dancing with friends growing up at COSB.
Thank you for joining us tonight as we celebrate our return to the stage after a year and a half! Not only is this our first show since the COVID-19 Pandemic hit last March, it is our first outdoor performance! We are so thankful for all the families who have continued to keep their kids enrolled in ballet whether it be dancing in person, with a mask, or on Zoom from the comfort of a bedroom, living room, or kitchen. We are also incredibly proud of all of our students for what they have accomplished in the past year. We hope you enjoy this evenings production!
